Washington Golf Club, is a Private, 9 hole golf course located in Washington, Connecticut.

Washington Golf Club;s web site staes, "The club held its first regular meeting at the Gunnery on July 4th, 1890, but John Brinsmade, Frank Heath and Richard Barnes had already appointed themselves the club’s executive committee ten months earlier - in October of 1889. This makes the the Field Club/Washington Golf Club links one of the first American courses built. St. Andrews in Westchester, the oldest continuously functioning U.S. course, was founded as a 6-hole layout in 1888." However their site also posts a logo with the course name in a reath shape that encircles a pine branches and cones and says Est 1897. Another logo on their site that features a diagram of the club house says Est 1903. So we can see that the first opened to play date is a little murky. It is agreed by many that the 9 hole course as we know it today first opened for play in 1903 and was designed by David Johnson

However, like most 9 hole courses, there are additional tee boxes to play on your second round. In this case, Washington plays to 2,886 yards on the "back-nine" and a par of 36. The par changes because hole #6 a 388 yard par 4 plays to 453 yards and a par 5 as hole #15 on the "back-nine."
